FAQs
Frequently asked questions
What RevTurbine is, who it's for, and how it fits your stack.
What is RevTurbine?
RevTurbine is the product-led growth engine for AI and SaaS products. It decides what each user sees, unlocks, and pays for: the right plan, trial, usage limit, upgrade prompt, and offer, for each user, at the right moment.
The result is that more free users convert, more accounts expand, and fewer churn.
Your monetization logic lives in a Playbook you edit in the RevTurbine dashboard, with your coding agent, or by hand. Change pricing, targeting, and nudges without code changes.
Who is RevTurbine for?
Builders launching monetization. Founders and engineers shipping a new SaaS or AI product who want plans, entitlements, trials, and upgrade flows in hours, without building the stack themselves. Start on the Builders page.
Teams scaling existing revenue. Product, growth, and monetization leaders who want to convert more free users, grow accounts, and cut churn without waiting on engineering cycles.
Either way, you are welcome to request a demo built around your pricing and product.
How do I know if RevTurbine is a fit?
RevTurbine is for subscription SaaS and AI products with a product-led funnel (self-serve sign-up, free plan or trial). Hybrid PLG and sales-led models included.
New start-ups and new products
Adopt RevTurbine when you first build plans, gates, trials, and upsells. It is most valuable when your product has, or will have:
- Multiple plans
- Free or reverse trials, especially where lengths may change
- Feature gates
- Usage limits, AI credits, or seat limits
- Upgrade prompts and paywalls
This avoids weeks or months of custom monetization work. RevTurbine is not required for a proof of concept with a single simple paid plan. Even then, the free version is quick to adopt, and starting early means each new plan, gate, or trial is a Playbook edit rather than new code. Finding product-market fit often involves several pricing changes.
Established PLG businesses
Use RevTurbine to grow faster, simplify your stack, and remove code. It is a strong fit when one of these is true:
- Pricing, plans, trials, credits, or usage limits need to evolve
- Upgrade moments are generic, untargeted, or hard-coded
- Your product or growth team cannot experiment without engineering tickets
- Paid conversion is below benchmarks, or you cannot tell which features, limits, nudges, or offers drive it
- Monetization complexity is spreading across plans, trials, usage, credits, seats, or customer exceptions
It is not designed for marketplaces, purely usage-based pricing models, or single-plan subscription products whose packaging will never change.
How is RevTurbine different from Stripe?
Stripe handles billing and payments: checkout, invoices, and revenue collection.
RevTurbine controls what happens inside the product:
- Which features are unlocked
- When upgrade prompts appear
- How trials, discounts, and offers are personalized
- How expansion and retention flows are triggered
Stripe collects revenue. RevTurbine helps you generate more of it.
How is RevTurbine different from other growth tools?
Onboarding tools (Pendo, Appcues)
Drive feature adoption, not monetization.
Experimentation platforms (Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, VWO)
Test product changes but lack entitlement logic, paywalls, and lifecycle monetization.
Analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog)
Provide insight, not real-time monetization decisions.
Customer data platforms (Segment, Hightouch, RudderStack)
Enable personalization and messaging but don't manage usage gating, pricing logic, or upgrade flows.
Entitlement & packaging tools (Stigg, Schematic)
Manage plans and feature gates, but don't decide who sees which prompt, offer, or limit, or optimize conversion, expansion, and retention.
RevTurbine controls what users see, unlock, and pay for, in the product, in real time.
Does optimizing entitlements and funnels really increase growth?
Most B2B SaaS businesses achieve free-to-paid conversion of <8% after six months, while top performers convert 12.5% or more (see the data). The gap comes from better trial and offer design, stronger entitlement gating, and continuous in-app experimentation.
RevTurbine doesn't replace product-market fit. It helps products reach their full revenue potential.
How long does implementation take?
Monetization flows can be live in hours or a small number of days, not weeks.
- 1Connect Stripe. It stays the source of truth for prices and billing.
- 2Configure your Playbook: entitlements, targeting, nudges, and lifecycle rules, in the dashboard or with your coding agent.
- 3Define monetization slots in your UI with lightweight
<Gate>and<Slot>snippets. - 4Validate and launch. Every change is reviewable and rollback-able.
No product rebuild required. If RevTurbine is ever unreachable, your product keeps working: gates fail open using the last-known state, and nudges and prompts are simply skipped.
Can my coding agent do the integration?
Yes. RevTurbine ships installable Agent Skills that give Claude Code and other coding agents the context, workflows, and guardrails to integrate RevTurbine correctly: author the Playbook, wire gates and slots, and verify the result. The agent drafts; you review and launch.
I don't have any paid users yet, do I need RevTurbine?
The ideal approach is to adopt RevTurbine, for free, before your first paid users, so you build your monetization system once, without repeated rebuilds, and have the tools to grow faster from the outset.
RevTurbine cannot create product-market fit. But it helps founders avoid a failure mode in which monetization obscures it: usage limits that stop users before their “aha” moment, trials that end before value is clear, or messaging that does not convert.
RevTurbine helps early products:
- Quickly define plans, pricing, and usage or feature gates using PLG best practices
- Avoid hard-coding monetization logic that becomes difficult to change later
- Experiment safely while searching for product-market fit
This means you can learn what converts before scaling outbound or paid acquisition. Once that loop works, every new lead is worth more.
You can start free, in local mode, without creating an account: install the SDK and run against a local Playbook. Connect a RevTurbine account when you want live Playbook updates without a deploy, analytics, and experiments.
Can't I just build this myself with an AI coding tool, Stripe, and feature flags?
You can. Until recently, building this with Stripe, feature flags, and custom code was the sensible default. However, the monetization layer is now off-the-shelf infrastructure, the way auth, billing, and hosting already are.
RevTurbine (npx revturbine create) installs the SDK, CLI, a starter Playbook, and Agent Skills; your coding agent then configures the Playbook and wires the SDK snippets. Monetization is live in hours rather than weeks or months, and later changes are Playbook edits rather than code changes.
Hand-built plan checks spread through a codebase, and every pricing or limit change becomes a code change. That cost is highest early on, because pricing, trials, and limits change most often before product-market fit. Local mode is always free, and the hosted free tier covers you well past your first paying customers (see Pricing).
Does RevTurbine support billing providers beyond Stripe?
Today, RevTurbine integrates with Stripe. Additional billing platforms to follow.
Who owns the customer and billing data?
You do. Your customer and billing data always remain under your control.
RevTurbine integrates with your existing systems and does not replace your source of truth for customers and their in-app behaviors, or subscriptions and payments.
Does RevTurbine reduce payment churn?
RevTurbine addresses churn through:
- Churn insights that inform entitlement and lifecycle strategy
- Renewal warnings and payment-fix prompts
- Downgrade paths
- Targeted cancel-save offers
Dunning and payment recovery are handled by billing-recovery tools or billing platforms.
Is RevTurbine self-serve?
RevTurbine's SDK, CLI, and docs are publicly available: you can install RevTurbine and build in local mode without an account. Start on the Builders page. Hosted accounts are currently onboarding through a small design-partner beta, where we work closely with each team to deliver measurable revenue impact. Request a demo.
Who is behind RevTurbine?
RevTurbine is built by founders who spent years running growth teams inside Amazon, Atlassian, and DocuSign. Meet the founders.
